COMING HOME TO BROOKFIELD 2013

You’re Among Friends

July 20 – 28

Plan now to be in Brookfield Saturday morning, July 20 to view the annual Homecoming Street Parade, partake of the Men’s Club BBQ and stay for the afternoon for a variety of events, still in the planning stages. Then it’s a rush home for maybe a quick swim in Shortt’s Lake or your back yard pool, a change of clothes and back out again for Movie’s Greatest Moments at SCA in the evening.

Start Sunday with the Pancake Breakfast at the Train Station, followed by the 10:00 am worship service at the Baptist Church and the 11:15 am Community Service on the property of Marilyn and Lloyd Groves, 231 Shortt’s Lake West Rd., followed by muffins and refreshments. Later in the afternoon and into the evening there are the Shortt’s Lake Boat Tours, Amazing Race, Parade of Boats in Shortt’s Lake, and the 4th annual Graveyard Experience at the Dartt-Nelson Cemetery, Pleasant Valley.

Monday sees a day of activity with Yoga, Hip Hop and Community Recreation Evening/Sports Night, including Lego building.

On Tuesday don’t miss the Biggest Little Art and Craft Show, along with an old favourite the Horse Jumping and Dog Show and Geocaching.

Wednesday is the day for gardening enthusiasts to be part of Bountiful Brookfield Blooms, the Biggest Little Art and Craft Show continues and another favourite at the end of the day, the Coffee House.

Thursday, another day of activity, beginning with a Fitness Hour, followed by a Nutrition Presentation, an evening Golf Scramble and for the younger set, a Movie Night.

On Friday, Lafarge will welcome residents and visitors to their plant site for an informative hour. Celebrating Our Youth is in the planning stages for the afternoon, with Afternoon Tea.

Saturday start the day off early with the 5 km. Fun Run, get some breakfast and then it is off to the Mad Hatters Fun Time and Bingo, lunch at MacQuarrie’s BBQ, followed by an afternoon at SCA and the Firemen’s Waterslides. Want to relax a bit, drop by and watch the Homecoming Sail Boat Regatta on Shortt’s Lake scheduled for both Saturday and Sunday afternoons.

Sunday, Homecoming concludes with an 11:30 am Community Worship Service at the Carter Homestead and Homecoming Closing, followed by Lunch.

Watch for the Homecoming brochure, mailed to every household in early July.
